Community Baby Shower

The National Charity League, Inc., Kings Trails Chapter (NCL, Inc., Kings Trails Chapter), Class of 2016 held a Community Baby Shower for the Society of St. Stephen’s Layette Ministry. The class collected newborn baby care items for donation to indigent new mothers at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston. The group of 21 young women organized the collection drive for their Senior Project, culminating six years of service to the community as members of the NCL, Inc. philanthropic organization.

“For the cost of a typical baby shower gift, we can provide a new mom, who has very little, with a diaper bag of essentials to begin caring for her newborn when she leaves the hospital,” explained Lexie Elliott, NCL, Inc., Kings Trails Chapter, Class of 2016 President. “There is a huge need for these bags: 80 were given out recently in just a two week period.”

The class partnered with the following community organizations to collect baby items: NCL, Inc., Kings Trails Chapter; Kingwood High School National Honor Society, Social Action Class, Orchestra, Student Council and Kingwood Fillies; Kingwood Park High School National Honor Society; Willow Creek Elementary; Holy Comforter Preschool; and Jazzercise. In addition, NCL, Inc., Kings Trails Chapter, Kingwood Fillies and Stitches N Giggles made diaper bags to package the items.
